Assault on trooper charged
A man involved in a car accident Thursday on Interstate 95 in Milford was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a State Police trooper investigating the crash. Todd P. Schwann, 41, of East Main Street, Stratford, was charged with second-degree assault, assaulting a police officer, interfering with police and breach of the peace. State police said Trooper Marc Gelven, 34, was investigating a two-car crash near exit 39 in the southbound lanes at 6:41 p.m. when Schwann became combative and struggled with police. Both state and Milford police subdued him with pepper spray. Details of Gelven’s injuries were not immediately available.
